Wood Green Animal Shelters appeals for volunteers
From charity shop workers to events volunteers, the Charity is keen to recruit more dedicated people to join its band of 260 strong volunteers.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Wood Green Animal Shelters and without them the Charity would simply not be able to care for the 6,300 animals that go through their doors every year.
The Charity, which has Shelters in Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire, Heydon in Hertfordshire and North London is seeking people to attend weekend events across the country where they will need to talk about Wood Green and the work that goes on.
Volunteers are needed to support collection events and bag packs while others are needed to drop off collection tins at their local pubs and shops.
Ideally volunteers would need to be flexible and work a minimum of four hours a week. Roles would include sorting out new stock, pricing up items and working behind the till. Volunteers would need to enjoy interacting with members of the public.
The Charity is also looking for charity shop volunteers to work in one of their four thriving charity shops in Godmanchester, St Ives, Sandy or Heydon.
For those looking for more of a challenge, the Charity is also seeking marathon runners, parachute jumpers and other thrill seekers to independently raise funds for the animals.
Community Fundraiser Caroline Wheeler said: “Anyone can volunteer. It doesn’t matter what your skills, experience or background are, or how much time you have to give, we’ll have something to suit you.
“All of the money raised will go towards caring for the some 900 animals that are at our three Shelters at any one time.
“We do not receive any government or lottery funding so rely entirely on the support and generosity of the public.”
