Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Freelance journalist Haddy Folivi is not one to rest on her laurels. Having experienced a year of upheaval, she was determined to end 2010 on a high, so she wrote her witty first book Tales of a Tired Tormented Mother in 10 days.

During the 10 day period, she also set up her publishing company, Paraguay Publishing, commissioned a designer to design the cover of the book, and listed the paperback at over 25,000 retail outlets worldwide.  The busy mother of one, who is a self –confessed write-aholic managed to write the book and set up her company whilst juggling the demands of an energetic toddler, being a wife, and general household duties. She started writing on the 16th December 2010, and finished on the 26th December.

“I structured a lot of my writing around family time, so I would write when my daughter and husband were asleep, and I would often go to bed at 2am, and wake up at 6am to accomplish my goal,” says the very calm Haddy.

Haddy has been working as a freelance journalist for over 13 years.  She has written for many UK based publications including Pride magazine, Touch magazine and the now defunct UK black paper New Nation.  She has also interviewed hundreds of artists including Usher and Faithless, and has appeared on Liberty Radio.

Like many freelance journalists, Haddy was forced to get a day job, and in 2005, she plunged herself into working for a local authority, and began to convince herself that she could forge a career in something non-media related.  The tug of writing kept on beckoning however, and in May 2010, Haddy and her former employers agreed to dissolve their working relationship.

“Ending my relationship with my employer was a big blow, because it left the future uncertain for my family financially, and I did really enjoy my job at one point.  However, after lengthy discussion, we agreed to mutually terminate my contract, as things were not working,” says Haddy.

Parting ways with her former employer gave Haddy the chance to reflect, and just as she was starting to make plans for the future, the un-excepted loss of a family member plunged the family into shock and made them re-asses their future plans.

“Grief can hit you hard.  Rather than let it cripple us, we grieved in private, and drew strength from family and friends to move on.”

It is this God-given strength and fighting spirit that enabled Haddy to write her book in under 2 weeks.  Tales of a Tired, Tormented Mother is a semi-biographical book about motherhood.  With chapter titles such as Oh No, I’m Turning Into My Mother, and Somebody Call 999, my Baby’s Got a Cold, the book is a humorous look at life with a baby / toddler.

“The book is largely about some of my experiences as a mother, and it contains parts that all mothers should be able to relate to.  I wrote a lot of it laughing out loud.”

Although Haddy was able to write the book fast, she is certain that the quality has not been compromised.

“I have been writing professionally for over 13 years, so I write pretty quickly.  I actually wrote 5,000 words of the book in one day, in between changing nappies and keeping my daughter amused.  I designed the book so  that mothers on the go can pick it up, and have a quick read, because it can be hard to find the time to watch TV, let alone read a book when you are knee deep in laundry,” Laughs Haddy.

Haddy was so determined not to compromise on quality that she commissioned a proof-reader to ensure there were no mistakes.  And she enjoyed the publishing process so much, that she has already started planning the follow up to Tales.

“I aim to write at least one more book this year, maybe two. Writing is in my veins.  It’s what I do.” Concludes Haddy.
