Les Freres Guisse announce UK tour

Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- This coming March sees Les Frères Guissé - one of Senegal's finest musical exports - embark on their UK tour promoted by Oye Touring and Trading! Kicking off on 17th March at The Picket in Liverpool, the group will be performing 9 gigs across the country.

The three brothers Djiby, Cheik and Aliou Guissé originate from the Fouta Tooro area in the North of Senegal. Their music is based on different rhythms of the Toucouleur, such as the Yela, but the Guissé brothers prefer saying that their music is universal, for all ages and races.

Beautiful and sensitive and well rooted in the traditions of West Africa. Poetic lyrics and close harmony singing, two acoustic guitars and a variety of percussion.

Oye Touring and Trading is the ongoing branch of the Africa Oye festival, the UK's largest celebration of music and culture from Africa and its diaspora. Black Routes, their newest venture in collaboration with four other organisations, launched in 2009 with the aid of funding from the Arts Council of England. Their aim is to make this music more widely accessible and showcase quality performers throughout the UK.
