Rave Reviews for Sold Out Opening Night for The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee on Sanibel

Jan. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Herb Strauss Theater’s Opening Night performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee closed to a standing ovation. This two-time Tony Award®-winner runs through February 12. Performances are Monday through Saturday, and start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for child 16 and under. Each night there is a raffle to win a 50/50 as well as a print donated by Nick Adams Photography.
   
In “The Bee,” six young people in the throes of puberty compete for the title of Spelling Champion. Chris Silk, theater critic for The Naples News raved about the production, “Capybara. Chinchilla. Chimerical. Camouflage. Cow. All these words pop up in the BIG ARTS Strauss Theater’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I'd toss “outstanding” into the mix; the quirky musical offers another reason to pay the toll to Sanibel.”
   
Performances are Monday through Saturday, and start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for child 16 and under.
For each performance four audience volunteers will be recruited to participate on-stage as guest spellers. This comedy is suitable for teen and adult audiences.
