Jan. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Builders League of South Jersey has named Bill Cappuccio as chairman of the League’s Remodelers Council for 2011.

Cappuccio, an outside sales representative with building materials distributor MarJam Supply in Pleasantville, will help the association expand the depth of its professional development opportunities for remodelers and associated members.

Last year he was instrumental in helping the New Jersey Remodelers Association merge with the Builders League and organizing professional development programs and courses with a focus on the remodeling industry.

The League hosts numerous courses throughout the year, including the latest Green Building products and techniques, nationally-recognized Green Building and remodeling certification programs, and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead-Safe Certification Program.

Additionally, Cappuccio hopes to launch a series of public service speaking engagements to educate the public on the best practices for hiring a remodeler or handyman.

“It is so important that homeowners understand how to hire a qualified home improvement contractor or handyman, how to check their references, the contracts they sign and, even, how to confirm they are licensed contractors with the state of New Jersey,” Cappuccio said. “We are constantly striving to grow the remodeling industry in southern New Jersey in a fair, professional and ethical manner. Now is the time to raise the voice of the industry.”

“All too often we hear from homeowners after they have become a victim of unscrupulous contractors who prey on all, especially our senior population. Our residents deserve to go home at night to a healthy and efficient home that is built to last.”
