Daniel Gilligan, D.O., added to Visiting Physicians Association®

Jan. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Visiting Physicians Association® (“VPA®”, www.visitingphysicians.com) announced the addition of Daniel Gilligan, D.O., to its Saginaw office located at 1484 Straits Dr., (Suite 5).  The Saginaw office covers all of Bay, Midland, Saginaw and Tuscola counties and parts of Clare, Gladwin and Isabella counties.

VPA is America’s leader in house call medicine and specializes in the care of geriatric and homebound patients.  Over 150 highly-qualified physicians are staffed by VPA at their 31 locations.  VPA’s physicians provide in-home medical care to patients in Florida, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Wisconsin and Virginia.  

Gilligan has over a decade of experience as a licensed physician and comes to VPA from Riverview Medical Associates in Bay City where he served as a Family Practice Physician.  Prior to that, he worked as a staff physician at Advance Urgent Care in Howell, MI, diagnosing and treating walk-in patients with acute illnesses and injuries.

Gilligan also served for the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a Family Practice Physician where he had multiple responsibilities including ambulatory care in a hospital-based clinic and supervision of medics at an Aid Station for combined field training exercises.  He was also deployed to Iraq where he served in the emergency department at Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.  While there, he managed Medevac’ed casualties, acute chest pain patients and other emergency patients.  

Gillian has won numerous awards including the Meritorious Service Medal for his performance in a deployment setting during Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Army Commendation Medal for his service at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox, KY and the Army Achievement Medal for service in support of the 18th Airborne Corps Joint Field Training Mission.  

Gillian is a Board Certified Family Physician who earned his doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan.  He completed residencies in Family Practice medicine from both Michigan State University’s Statewide Campus Program and the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, MI.
