Jan. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- The New Year has seen Colchester United expand its commercial staff as it looks to build on a strong foundation already in place on the sales side of the business.

With four new staff due to join the U's, the role of managing the expanded sales team falls to Michelle Tricker, who has joined the club from nearby Ipswich Town as the new Sales Team Leader.

With a wide raft of sales experience gained during her time with the Tractor Boys, Michelle brings plenty of expertise to the club and she can't wait to get going.

She said: "Colchester seems like a club that is certainly moving in the right direction. We are currently there or thereabouts with regards to the play-off positions and the new stadium offers fantastic facilities. This is definitely the right time for me to move  and help push the commercial side of the club forward."

The club has enjoyed particular success this season with the matchday hospitality packages and that is something that Michelle is keen to expand on, now that she has made the switch from Portman Road.

She added: "I want to increase awareness amongst the fans about the fantastic value hospitality packages that we can offer on a matchday - it's not just about the prawn sandwich brigade!

"I also want to encourage local businesses to use the facilities at the stadium for meetings, exhibitions and events. Finally, I want everyone who comes to the Weston Homes Community Stadium to leave saying what a fantastic day they have had."

The new A12 junction for the local area supporting the stadium opened in December 2010 and Michelle believes that this means that opportunity knocks more than ever for her and her new team.

"It is very rare to have such versatile facilities and, with the new road links, I am really looking forward to getting started and seeing what original events we can host.

"The advantage of hospitality at Colchester United is that we can offer a great value package so that you can entertain your customers, which in itself can ecourage them to put more business your way."
