Jan. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Author Sherri Gough announced today the release of Dust, A Book for Broken People, published by Outskirts Press.  Gough’s innovative new work is not another “how to” book breaking free from addiction.  Rather, it is addressed to the often grim reality of one struggling with addiction and depression and, by recognizing where that person is at emotionally, Gough can start to provide them with some actual measure of hope and comfort with her poetic text.

“We are all just made of dust, so what’s the point?” asks the author.  This is often the view of those whose lives are in the chaos of addiction or depression.  By starting from this ground zero emotion -- and the attendant feelings of unimportance, unworthiness and overwhelm -- Gough is able to enter the world of the addicted and depressed at their level and establish a reality from which they can then begin to accept some hope for improvement.

Gough shows clearly and simply that each person’s body is created intricately and perfectly.  Each person’s DNA makes them utterly unique and therefore each person, although made of “dust,” is original and distinct.  Each person has a specific effect, therefore, on all those around them.  Each person, even in his or her darkest hour, is yet loved unconditionally by the God that crafted the DNA of these perfectly individual bodies.

The road to recovery, Gough understands, can be an extremely difficult one.  Many have found strength in the twelve step program, and Dust can be an effective addition and collaboration to that program both for the individual as momentary solace and for groups as a catalyst for discussion.

Striking full color photos also illustrate and help inspire in this book of quiet, but sturdy hope.

Dust is available on-line in paperback through Amazon and Barnes and Noble and at www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.
