Litchfield Bancorp customers win $5,000

April 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Litchfield Bancorp Oakville branch manager Debra Telman had some very good news for bank customers George and Kelly Davino.

If only she could get the couple to return her calls to let them know what it was.

After numerous attempts, Telman finally reached the Davinos at home in Wolcott on a recent Saturday morning. George Davino took Telman's call and seconds later was doing a dance for his wife.

"We've won $5,000!" George Davino exclaimed.

The Davinos were the winners of a quarterly sweepstakes held by ORCC, a national online banking service Litchfield Bancorp customers can use to pay their bills. Their name was randomly selected from nearly 5.4 million bills paid through the service by customers of 231 financial institutions across the country.

On Dec. 8, the Davinos visited the Oakville branch, where they did their banking before moving to Wolcott from Waterbury, to receive a ceremonial check from Telman and Litchfield Bancorp Senior Vice President Paul McLaughlin.

Telman was eager to hand over the check after working so hard to contact the couple.

"I must've called five times," Telman said. "Maybe they didn't call back because they thought they were in trouble."

Busy with their jobs and children, Morgan, 5, and Ashton, 2, the Davinos never got to returning Telman's calls. But they did go online to make sure everything was fine with their account.

"We thought it was a problem with a check, but when we saw all was good online we didn't think about calling back," Kelly Davino said.

The Davinos have been Litchfield Bancorp customers for more than 10 years. When they moved to Wolcott, Kelly Davino pressed her husband to close their account so they could do business with a bank closer to home.

"I refused," George Davino said. "Litchfield Bancorp has provided good service all these years, so I decided to stay with it. That decision paid off."
The Davinos plan to use their prize to take a trip to Disney World with their children next September.

They are the first Litchfield Bancorp customers to win the $5,000 prize. ORCC also awards guaranteed $100 quarterly prizes to participating financial institutions.
