Call for Papers Issued for 5th Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium

Jan. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Dallas, Texas, USA – A ‘Call for Papers’ has been issued for the 5th Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium, to be held August 11-12, 2011 in the School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas, USA.  The conference is being sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management at the University of Texas at Dallas, in cooperation with PMForum and the PMI Dallas Chapter.  As in years past, the 2-day Project Management Symposium will focus on topics important to organizations, industries and the economy of North Texas.

Deadlines: Abstracts with Biographical summary and photo due Monday, February 28, 2011; Papers will be selected by Friday, April 8, 2011.

Project management academic leaders, experts, researchers and professionals interested in presenting a paper at the 5th Annual UT Dallas PM Symposium next August should e-mail abstract, bio and photo to pmsymposium@utdallas.edu.   Based on the success of the 4th UTD Project Management Symposium in August 2010, which featured over 40 speakers and 264 attendees, more paper proposals are expected than speaking opportunities, so competitive topics and abstracts should be submitted.

Paper abstracts should be on one of the following proposed track topics: Managing Complex Programs and Projects; Sustainable Project Management ; Program Management; Portfolio Management
Global Program & Project Management; Innovations in Project Management; Telecom & Information Technology Project Management; Project Management Case Studies and Lessons Learned; Human Factors in Project Management (leadership, communications, conflict management, etc.); Financial Aspects of Complex Projects (cost management, risk management).

Abstract Submission Guidelines include the following: (a) Papers must not have been previously published; (b) Papers and presentations must be free of commercial sales content; (c) Papers and presentations should focus on the subject of the title, and provide new contributions to the topic; (d) The length of the abstract should be between 150 and 250 words; (e) Abstracts shall be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font in MS Office Word format; (f) Each abstract must have a lead author who will serve as the primary contact for all correspondence; (g) Length of the final paper should be 1000 to 2000 words in length.

The 2 Day Project Management Symposium will include an Opening Ceremony with Keynote Speakers, professional presentations, panel discussions, lunches and coffee breaks, a networking reception and a closing plenary session with keynote speaker and door prizes.   Participants can receive 10 PDUs for presenting a paper, and additional PDUs for attending.  Presenters will also have fees waived.

The symposium will be sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), in cooperation with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum, Inc.  Both the PMI Dallas Chapter and UT Dallas are registered education providers with PMI, so attendees can receive up to 16 Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMP recertification.   More information at http://som.utdallas.edu/graduate/execed/projectMgmtProg/p...
