Jan. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The International Cat Show in Portland Oregon is host to the 1st Annual Scooper Bowl, a contest challenging the speed, accuracy, and wrist action skills cat folk never talk about; Litter Box Scooping.

Cat owners pride themselves on keeping their cat and family happy by regularly scooping the cat box.   This necessary chore and the skills that go with it, are often under-appreciated, and never celebrated. Not anymore.  The 1st Annual Scooper Bowl is coming to the International Cat Show in Portland, Oregon, Saturday, January 29th at noon.

Sponsored by Swheat Scoop Natural Wheat Litter, Scooper Bowl is a not a foot ball game, but a contest where litter box scooping skills are put to the test.  If you’ve never heard of litter box scooping skills, then you mustn’t own a cat, as cat-lovers secretly pride themselves on their abilities to keep cat odor away by keeping the litter box clean.

So what happens at Scooper Bowl?

Swheat Scoop is providing pre-measured unused kitty litter in new litter boxes. Each box will be salted with pretzels and jellybeans in equal amounts per box. In timed rounds, contestants will use a small plastic spoon to scoop as many items as they can, with the least amount of wastage, as no dumping or sifting is allowed. The contestant scooping the most items, with the least amount of waste, wins the round, advancing towards the grand finale and crown as Scooper Bowl Champion.

All contestants will receive a diploma as a Certified Litter Box Technician, to show off to friends, family, and co-workers, proving you can stir it well.

Scooper Bowl is open to all contestants, even cat show spectators, and begins at noon, Saturday, January 29th.

The International Cat Show & food drive for the Oregon Food Bank is January 29th & 30th, from 9 am to 5 pm, at the Holiday Inn at Portland Airport Conference Center, 8439 NE Columbia Blvd.

Admission to the International Cat Show is reduced to $4 when bringing 2 cans of food for the Oregon Food Bank.  Regular admission is $6 without food.  Children under 12 are free, and parking is free.
