Raleigh-Based Transportation Company Takes Breast Cancer Awareness on the Road

Blue Diamond Worldwide Transportation, the largest woman-owned limousine company in the Carolinas, is “cruising for a cure” all over the Triangle. A pink ten-passenger limousine was added to the company’s already impressive fleet this summer, making the area a bit more colorful.
“I received a phone call last August from a friend of mine who had recently discovered that her breast cancer had spread,” said Carrie Peele, founder and CEO of Blue Diamond. “I wanted to help, but knew that I was helpless to fight the disease for her. So, I did the only thing I could do – I bought a limo and made it pink!”
The custom painted limousine has been seen all over the Triangle, as well as many statewide events. Each time the limousine is used, ten percent of the fees are donated to breast cancer research. In four months, Blue Diamond has donated nearly $1,000.
“I want these brave women, and now men, to know that they are the true heroes,” said Peele.
In addition to donating proceeds from each rental to breast cancer research, Peele has also taken her survivor recognition one step further. As the founder of the Triangle Ladies Power Lunch, a monthly luncheon series dedicated to showcasing successful women in the Triangle, she has been using the luncheon as a chance to recognize survivors in her area.
“Every month, we invite a different survivor to our luncheon,” Peele said. “She and seven of her friends are picked up in the pink limo, given the full ‘red carpet’ treatment, invited for lunch, and provided the opportunity to discuss her journey and her courage.”
Each survivor and their guests have a special place at the Heroes Table, a table completely decorated in pink to raise awareness for breast cancer. “I want survivors all across the Triangle to know that they are remarkable individuals and should be honored,” said Peele.
As residents make their daily commutes, they have noticed that the roads are a little bit more colorful. Thanks to breast cancer survivors everywhere, our world is a little bit more courageous.
