Atlanta Chevrolet Dealer Reveals Chevrolet Volt as North American Car of the Year

Jan. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Atlanta Chevrolet dealer Superior Chevrolet has received news that the Chevrolet Volt won the North American Car of the Year award. The Chevrolet Volt received the award at the Detroit Auto Show’s news conference yesterday. The two other contenders for the award were the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Sonata.

Fifty automotive experts made up the panel of judges in charge of deciding on the winner. It has not been any easy process, especially with so many new vehicles being introduced this year. In order to be eligible for the award, vehicles must have undergone significant changes. As the Chevrolet Volt was one of the year’s new introductions, it was able to qualify. Helping to make the decision a little easier was a group of five automotive journalists, including Car and Driver’s Tony Swan.

Lindsay Brooke, contributor for Automotive Engineering International, was one of many committee members who thought highly of the Chevrolet Volt, coming soon to Superior Chevrolet. “The Volt seamlessly bridges the gulf between today’s liquid fueling infrastructure and the plugged-in electric future.”  GM CEO Dan Akerson hopes that the win will convince more Atlanta Chevrolet buyers to consider electric vehicles. “Being named North American Car of the Year will help convince customers that the Volt is truly a breakthrough vehicle, delivering the benefits of electric driving without the range anxiety associated with pure electric vehicles.”
