Jan. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Las Vegas — Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) invites skiers and boarders to huck, grab and go big in a series of eight contests at the area’s freestyle terrain park, Darkside Park, starting Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 and running through April.  The contests are open to male and female skiers and riders of all ages and range in format from jam style, where contestants throw down their best tricks and are judged on landing, difficulty and style, to big air and boardercross contests, which focus on jumps and speed.  The entry fee is $25 plus the cost of a lift ticket; season pass holders will pay the entry fee only.  Registration for each event, aside from the DSP After Dark event on January 29, is from 9 to 10 a.m., giving contestants an hour of practice before the contests start at 11 a.m.

Contestants for each event will be divided by gender into two age categories: 15 and under, and 16 and over.  All registered competitors will be eligible to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes, but the top three athletes in each category will be awarded special prizes.

“This season’s Darkside Park events schedule is jam-packed, with more events than in any previous season,” says Curt Sheffield, director of business affairs at LVSSR.  “The Darkside Park team is working hard to make creative park features that will ensure the contests are fun and challenging for contestants at all levels.  Each event will be unique, and there will be something for everyone.  Local riders may want to consider heading up here for some practice runs before the big day so they can have a chance at winning some great prizes.”
