By: N2R Media In her new book ‘Hey Little Missy’, international author, broadcaster and entrepreneur Katy Dee recounts her days at Carmel College and how she took a momentous decision as a teenager to run away from an abusive family home to seek a better life. Most teenage girls would be deciding on which make up to wear, or what latest designer dress to buy, but this teenager had a different question on her mind. If you had only three bags to fit your whole life into, and you knew you were never coming back home, what would you put in them? Well that’s exactly what happened on a sunny morning more than twenty years ago to a sixteen year old teenage girl, and that teenage girl was Katy. Hey Little Missy is an inspiring book that tells the story of a runaway child who escapes a controlling father by running away to a self gained scholarship at the prestigious Jewish boarding school, Carmel College, located in the glorious Oxfordshire countryside. It’s a tale of a child’s courage and determination to overcome adversity, turn neglect into respect, and ultimately build a bridge to a better life. The lessons learned are as relevant in adult life as they were to her former years. “When I first started writing this book it started out as my memoirs from my days at Carmel, but I realised that the story of my struggles, and the time I spent at Carmel College shaped me into a stronger woman. I soon realised that there was another underlying story from my days at the college, a tale of courage, endurance, and the discovery of what amazing things you can accomplish under duress. It was then I understood that this book had taken on a life of its own and could empower others to take the journey from neglect to respect, and build a bridge to a better life” says Katy. A new blog to support the release of the book has just been published at http://www.heylittlemissy.com, where Katy regularly publishes further inspirational stories, information and pictures about the former Carmel College, and empowering comments that can help people in similar situations turn their lives around. There are also plans afoot to turn the book into a film and stage play. Hey Little Missy is published by N2R Publishing, and is available from Amazon and Lulu.Com. End
