Perfect Design--Odssey White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter

Jan. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- I want to give Odyssey its due on this White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter. I was not impressed at all w/the original XG putter. I found it too light, too easy to twist the face, and generally lacking in overall balance. I realize this one makes a nod to the "Kitschy" (if not down right gaudy) department, but at least it does so w/ good results. Try as they might, Odyssey is having a heck of a time coming up w/putters that can have the same impact on the short game world as their original Rossi Dual Force, and Two Ball mallet putters. These aren't quite the ones, but they are certainly a much better attempt than the original XG. The White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter is a very good putter.

An Odyssey putter is a promise made. Odyssey designs each of its putters to help golfers to slay more demons and sink more putts. In 1991, Odyssey released the first mallet putters molded entirely from a lightweight, soft, and resilient elastomer called Stronomic. Two years after its introduction, the Stronomic putter earned its first Tour win and quickly garnered wide acceptance among pros.

The Sabretooth prongs on the outside may be a little much for some people to take, but they do provide that heel toe balancing act that the tiny little wings on the original XG gave in appearance only. In fact, I had great luck on straight back and straight through strokes from short to long middle length putts. The only time I really felt this putter was lacking was in the 20 foot plus department. It really wasn't so much lacking, as it was just not achieving the stellar results that the short to midl-length putts were providing. My success ratio on short to mid length putts was very good. The White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter was deadly accurate, put a good roll on the ball, and felt well balanced all the way--both straight back and straight through. I realize it's my own personal taste here on the lags, but I felt if she had just a bit more mass to her, I wouldn't have felt the need to be so aggressive on the 20-30 footers, and that would have allowed me to play some more of the break that these longer putts so often entail.
