Boston band Iyeoka and the Rock by Funk Tribe kicks off the new year with two shows on MLK Ski-Weekend in Vermont bringing together "Say Yes" fans and friends in remembrance and celebrations marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Jan. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles/Boston- Underground Sun Records and Phanai Media Group announces New England tour dates to support the release of the album "SAY YES" by Boston based poet, songstress and TED Global Fellow, Iyeoka. This highly anticipated event promises to be one of Vermont's hottest MLK Weekend events of the winter with a live band performance by Iyeoka and the Rock by Funk Tribe, performing original music from "SAY YES" and songs from her previous albums Black and Blues and Hum the Bass Line. Iyeoka recently headlined the finale show of First Night Monterey at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey CA on new year’s eve backed by the Rock by Funk Tribe featuring Afro-funk legend Danjuma.  Her single, “The Yellow Brick Road Song” was featured in the first season of the HBO show “How To Make It In America”. Season 1 is currently airing in its entirety on HBO Comedy.

A special sneak preview performance by Iyeoka on Friday January 14th, 2011 sponsored by Middlebury College and the Office of the Dean of the College, 51 Main, Women’s & Gender Studies, Chellis House-Women’s Resource Center, and MCAB Concert Series will take place at The Bridge @ 51 Main st Middlebury VT, Free

Iyeoka’s live show includes east coast RBFT music director and horn player Akili Jamal Haynes, MC and lyricist Bc@p, bassist Kyle Higgins, and drummer Aine Fujioka from Japan. Together, they produce a unique sound that touches popular, world and urban music. The rock by Funk Tribe sound has been identified as contemporary Nigerian soul and "a fresh combo of sounds including pop hip-hop, R&B, and native African beats. Tickets are $10.
