Jan. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- ORANGE, CALIF.--The American College of Law will offer a new program, Credit Damages Assessor (CDA), which will teach students how to measure the monetary damages suffered by an individual or business because of a reduced credit score. Graduates will be certified as forensic CDA experts who can serve plaintiffs and defendants at trial. Classes begin February 2.

"Experts in credit damages are needed for valuation testimony at arbitration, mandatory settlement conferences and trial," says Georg Finder, an independent credit evaluator, instructor and one of the program's creators. "While credit damage is widely recognized in society and in the business world, it is often not introduced at trial for lack of trained professionals having the skills needed to calculate its harm and to communicate as forensic experts."

Loss of credit reputation, also referred to as credit damage, is commonly overlooked in serious personal injury cases, health/medical insurance disputes or rescission, fraud, loan modification violations,  contested divorce and other types of litigation. "With forensic training," says Finder, "lawyers and paralegals will be able to identify credit damaged clients, prepare credit damage demands built on factual foundations and utilize proper documentation that specifies the validity of the credit damage."

The 15-week program teaches students how to identify and measure injury to financial reputation-- from the actual out-of-pocket dollars to the foreseeable loss of creditworthiness. Damages can include higher down payments, higher interest rates and higher points and costs on loans, loss of credit accounts and denial of new credit accounts. The class will also teach how to effectively communicate damages and overcome forensic pitfalls and testimonial hurdles.

The CDA 3-unit program will take place at the Financial Education Academy (3745 W. Chapman Ave., Suite 250, Orange, CA  92868).  An online course is available approximately 72 hours after each live presentation. Continuing Legal Education credit is available, including ethics and elimination-of-bias credits. To register and for more information, contact 714-441-0900, creditdamageassessor@gmail.com.
