One exception to that is GreenTech, a toner cartridge recycling company in the UK, which has paid more than £50,000 to charities in 2010.
By: Hanif O Bhatti The top three charities that received donation this year so far by using GreenTech’s toner cartridge recycling services are based in Surrey (£18350), Norfolk (£14431), and Warwickshire (£12607). Revealing their future plans, GreenTech CEO, Sohail Sethi said “We are soon launching our new and enhanced recycling website that will include an option for the recyclers to donate some or the entire amount they can earn from toner cartridge recycling directly to a charity of their own choice.” Charities are always looking for relatively simple ways of fund-raising and toner cartridge recycling can be one of them. In order to increase their funds for philanthropic purposes, charitable organisations encourage their donors to recycle toner cartridges instead of donating cash. This not only helps them raise more funds but is part of good environmental practice. The inkjet and toner cartridge recycling and remanufacturing industry gave a boom to fund-raising activities in the past few years as most of the schools and colleges in the UK are currently using toner cartridge recycling to augment their funds. According to a recent study, a small business can use 75 to 200 cartridges per year. By persuading 10 small businesses -- which can use up to 100 cartridges per year -- to donate their empty toner cartridge, a charity can raise up to £1500, at an average of £1.50 earned per used cartridge. GreenTech also help charities set up a cartridge recycling program for easy fund-raising.
