New York City All-Star Spoken Word Poetry Extravaganza - Thursday, Jan. 13

Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- On Thursday night, Jan. 13, in the strikingly elegant downstairs Gallery Bar of downtown Manhattan hotspot (Le) Poisson Rouge, over  20 of best performance poets in the New York City area – including Def Poetry Jam stars Oveous Maximus, Vanessa Hidary, Gemineye, Steve Colman, Patricia Smith, Tahani Salah, and Willie Perdomo- hit the stage for a four-hour all-star spoken word poetry extravaganza.

The date marks the one-year anniversary of Mike Geffner Presents The Inspired Word, the hottest new weekly spoken word poetry series in New York City.

Founded by longtime journalist and former Village Voice sports journalist Mike Geffner, The Inspired Word debuted in Manhattan on Jan. 15, 2010. In its first year, happening every Thursday night,  the series featured the most amazing array of poetic talent, such as Suheir Hammad, Lemon Andersen, Rachel McKibbens, and Bassey Ikpi.
