Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Leaping into 2011 with fiery new pants, David Billings is optimistic about offering his new art collections through his company, Sparky Firepants Images. Billings has chosen the Craft & Hobby Association Winter Trade Show as the first venue to host his art. The CHA show runs from January 28-February 2 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Attending the show are craft supply manufacturers, retailers, and hobbyists. "These are some of my favorite creative people to connect with," Billings says. "I've always loved paper crafting myself and it's fun to learn what other crafters like to use in their projects."

Billings believes that the key to designing great products for the craft industry is to understand how crafters think. He intends to meet with both manufacturers and hobbyists to learn more.

"As an illustrator, I can create anything I dream up," he says. "That's fun, but ultimately manufacturers need to sell my designs to retailers. That means I've got to strike a balance between my personal style and what crafters want to buy."

A key philosophy at Sparky Firepants Images is to work closely with manufacturers to create designs that their customers will love. For Billings, that means focusing high-level service skills to deliver art that's easy to produce. "It doesn't do any good if a company loves my art but I can't format it for their manufacturing process," Billings says. "That means having my art readily available in easily manipulated digital formats."

At the show, Billings plans on spending his time getting to know people in the industry and applying what he learns to his next round of designs. He says, "I'm excited to have my entire art catalog available for the first time." Billings admits that, "I'm a papercraft geek, so I'm also pretty jazzed about being surrounded by craft supplies for a few days."

Sparky Firepants will be at booth #4943 and Sunday's exclusive Designer Showcase at table #37. To make an appointment to meet with the artist or inquire about licensing Sparky Firepants art, e-mail sparky@sparkyfirepants.com.
