Conservative Party (CP-USA) reproaches ACU for inviting GoProud to the CPAC 2011 Conference.

Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Party Chairman H. Michael Hervey explained that “GoProud has an openly gay agenda that is at odds with most Americans in general and the vast majority of CPAC attendees in specific.  The Conservative Party will directly challenge that agenda.  We’ll stress and support traditional American values at CPAC and beyond.”

GoProud initiated the recent batch of Federal laws suits challenging the Military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.  They were also instrumental in encouraging eight Republican Senators to vote for DADT’s repeal during the Congressional Lame Duck session in December.

“While the Conservative Party obviously supports freedom of speech and assembly, allowing a gay rights group like GoProud to attend a gathering of conservatives who reject that agenda is like allowing the KKK to speak at a NAACP convention.  It has no value and is certainly not representative of CPAC’s pedigree or theme.” Mr. Hervey continued.  

Conservative Party (Pennsylvania) Chairman Marcus Kohan added that "GOProud is a pro-homosexual organization that has no place at a conservative action conference.  By allowing them to participate, ACU has shown total disregard for Conservative principles and values."  Mr. Kohan continued, "While homosexuality is a freedom that Americans can choose, it is not a behavior that Conservatives condone."
