Applications Are Now Available for the 2011 Halstead Grant

Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Prescott, Arizona, January 5, 2010-Halstead Bead Inc. is once again, offering an exciting opportunity for upstart jewelry designers. Halstead Bead Inc. will proudly award The Halstead Grant for the sixth time, in 2011.

The Halstead Grant will be given to a new jewelry designer in the bridge or artisan jewelry segment. Previously known as The Jewelry Design Business Development Grant, The Halstead Grant helps jewelry designers reach their career goals.

Past winners of The Halstead Grant have gone on to have their jewelry in stores across the country. They have been featured in several jewelry publications, and have had their jewelry in well-respected juried shows. The Halstead Grant is the only grant of its kind in the jewelry field. In order to be awarded The Halstead Grant, the designer must show superior design and business planning.

The judges of The Halstead Grant are looking for innovation in design, a unique sense of style, which the jewelry designer embodies, and the designer should stick to a singular brand identity.  This is the first part of the judging process; the second consists of recognizing outstanding business planning. The Halstead Grant will be awarded to someone who has plans for the marketing, finances and logistics of their business. It takes a complete jewelry entrepreneur to win the coveted Halstead Grant.

A jewelry designer’s jewelry can be made using traditional metalsmithing, beading, lampworking, metal clay, wire working or other techniques.  The Halstead Grant is awarded to a designer who presents the wow factor, necessary to be a successful jewelry maker.

The Halstead Grant is worth $6,000 in cash and jewelry supplies. The application process is open until June 6, 2011.
