Armchair Art Auction to Raise Money for Operation Rainbow Canada

Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Vancouver, BC, January 5,, 2011 – Starting this week and until February 15th 2011, work from artists across Canada will be available for bidding via an Armchair Art Auction. This online auction (www.goodlifeconnoisseur.com/artauction.html) will help to raise money for Operation Rainbow Canada (ORC).

Operation Rainbow Canada is a non-profit medical organization based in New Westminster (Vancouver) Canada, which provides reconstructive cleft-lip and cleft-palate surgery for children in developing countries throughout the world. www.operationrainbowcanada.com

Over $32,000 worth of Canadian artwork has been donated to raise funds to cover international transportation for the 22+ person team, as well as additional equipment to perform the much needed operations.

“Coined the ‘Armchair Art Auction’, you need go no further than your computer to Vote and Bid,” says Janice Mclean, art advisor. ”Social networking (Facebook) has really given a big push to this campaign,” McLean continued saying, “This is giving extraordinary talented Canadian artists the opportunity to gain some exposure, while helping a great cause, a real win-win!”

The semi-final artists featured in the Art Auction are being juried by viewers online. The viewers vote for the top three artworks presented and the three finalists will go on to be featured in a national luxury lifestyle magazine ‘Good Life Connoisseur’. Prizes are offered to encourage viewers to vote and show their support in the fundraising effort.

Semi-Final Artists include: Yvonne Maximchuk, Wojciech Nowakowski, Charles Spratt, Marion Webber, Barb Bowlsby, Isobel Mantle, Shelley Cowan, Barrie Chadwick, Jeff Sawatzky, Danuta Rogula, Doug Wilkie, Jill Charuk, Courtney Powell, Brenda Hill, Linzy Arnott, Denis Grosjean, Sheila Neufeld, Andrew Saliken, Lori Goldberg, Christine Poulin, Audrey Bunt, Teresa SW Chow and Angela Kim. “We are so proud to have gathered such a strong group of talent and are certain we will reach our goals,” says McLean.
