If you feel summer can’t come fast enough, dive into Long Beach Island’s Chocolate Week featuring events, hotel packages and dining to sweeten up your February

Jan. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Don’t start that diet yet, the Long Beach Island Region’s Chocolate Week is right around the corner with previews beginning February 5 and events running through February 20.  Begin with the themed reading and movie list, created by the local branches of the Ocean County Library. In addition to reading and movies suggestions, the library branches invite visitors and residents to stop in and register for their planned activities that correspond with Chocolate Week, Feb 12-20, a Destination Marketing Initiative in partnership with the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and sponsors LBIFoodies.com and the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism.

This year is packed with activities for families, couples and own personal appetites such as free environmental events such as The Long Beach Island Foundation February 12  Science Saturday will give a tribute to local ecosystem with a Chocolate Turtle Hand out or Sealed with a Kiss, a marine mammal presentation at the Barnegat Lighthouse Interpretive Center on Feb 19 at 1pm, where the Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park will give each attendee a chocolate kiss for coming. Enjoy a Lavish Salon treat or Blissful Massage featuring a Mayan Gold Chocolate antioxidant drink with the area’s top spas. Stay overnight and take in the Minerva Bed & Breakfast Chocolate Cooking Class, Magnolia House’s Romantic Getaway or Daddy Os decadent dinners. Looking to getaway for more than a weekend? Visit local realtors The Van Dyk Group, GA Anderson Agency for open houses with sweet treats or take the Hot Chocolate Tour at the Hampton Ridge Model Homes in Barnegat. Take in some entertainment with a Lighthouse International Film Festival Screening or Our Gangs Hello Dolly on Feb 12 featuring Chocolate Intermissions and hand outs. New this year is the Feb 16 Chocolate Week Bartenders Competition starting at 8pm at TGI Friday’s in Manahawkin or Feb 19 Marketplace at St Mary’s Parish Center on Mckinley Ave Manahawkin.

Chocolate Week is a series of offers, activities and events that include Valentine's Day and President's Day Weekend; to encourage out of area visitors as well as serving local residents.
