Grammy winning drummer Swiss Chris jams and rings in the new year with Sissy this Friday night!

Dec. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Christoph Flueck, aka Swiss Chris, earned his Diploma in Performance from the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He further studied at the Drummer's Collective in New York with Kim Plainfield and Frank Katz.

Swiss completed a successful four years as the Music Director and Grammy Award-Winning Drummer for John Legend.  The Band won a Grammy as the best R&B Live Band Performance for the Song “So High” in 2006, the same song which Swiss recorded on John’s first major label recording.

With the release of John Legend’s first album “Get Lifted” in 2004, Swiss played on 3 US tours, 3 European tours, 2 Australian tours and tours in New Zealand and Japan.

During 2006-2008, for the “Once Again” album, Swiss contributed his unique style of musical drumming and production on songs like “Save Room”, “Stereo” and “Maxine” and  he embarked on 2 US tours, 2 European tours, and 1 Asian tour with John.

Swiss has worked with artists including Sir Elton John, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Common, Wyclef Jean, Miss Lauren Hill, DJ Dummy and DJ A-Trak.

He received multiple awards and honors as a marching band field drummer, big band and contemporary jazz drummer as well as earning a humanitarian award from his homeland Switzerland.

Swiss has studied with diverse teachers like Bob Moses, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Kim Plainfield, Skip Hadden, Casey Scheuerell, Kenwood Dennard, Lenny Nelson, Joe Morello, Jim Chapin and the "DrumDoctor" Dom Famularo.  Swiss believes in continuous education and is a life-long drum student.

His prolific styles include: Funk, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Blues, Latin-/ African-/ Haitian and broken-8th Note Jazz.

Swiss has been on BET in a featured performance as the musical director/drummer for the Ed Gordon Show with the Last Poets, Jessica Care Moore and Mums from the Hit HBO show OZ. Swiss performed and/or recorded with conscious MC’s like Mos Def, Dead Prez, Acrobatic, Afura and Milano.

Swiss was the musical director and house drummer for the legendary Lyricist Lounge. He has worked for multiple fundraiser and charity events with the political activist group Earthdriver. He’s played at Madison Square Garden for a Mumia Abu Jamal Benefit.

Swiss Chris was also the musical director/drummer/programmer for Mexicano 777 (featuring KRS One and Mad Lion) and Bazaar Royal (MTV appearance). He toured Eastern and Western Europe with the legendary James ‘Blood’ Ulmer. He performed at the Apollo Theater with Billy Cox (Jimi Hendrix, Band of Gypsies) and Ladell Mclin, Jessica Care Moore and Imani Uzuri and Burnt Sugar.

He recorded with world famous drummer Billy Cobham, DMC from RUN DMC and Chuck D. from Public Enemy. Swiss Chris was featured in the Hip-hop/Rock Video with Talib Kweli’s group, Idle Warship on the track  ”Black Snake Moan.”

Swiss Chris was also the Musical Director/Drummer for the Home School Records/ Bailey’s sponsored Tour 2008 and video featuring “Estelle” Fanta Swaray.
Swiss currently works with the Human rights activist group Earth Driver, Mr. Funk Buddha and Zimbabwe Legit, Mazzi with S.O.U.L. Purpose and his own Group “The Dream Team One."

Swiss performed on the Long Beach Raggamuffin Festival with the Number One Band from Sierre Leon, Bajah and the Dry Eye Crew.

He performed at Carnegie Hall with the same group under the direction of the famous composer Philip Glass.  Swiss performed B.D.E.C. at the Roots Festival in Philadelphia sponsored by the Legendary Roots Crew, the house band of Jimmy Fallon.
 
Swiss Chris is currently working as an in demand session drummer/ Music Director in NYC.  He is also working as the Drummer for Gloria Gaynor on her South- and North America shows and some international Tours, like South Africa Summer 2010.

Swiss is in the process of completing his book, Sticking With Swiss Chris.  He is also actively involved with his S.W.I.S.S. (Saving With Instruments, Samples and Soundz) Organization, dedicated teaching how to resolve conflicts through peaceful means with the use of instruments and motivational education through music and sound.
