One more aspect to his success is the vast amounts of referral business he's been getting from his satisfied latex mattress customers. "You can't beat word of mouth advertising" Hightower said. He also claims that his overhead is much lower than his competition and that he spends no money in advertising but rather puts his efforts into website management and optimization. Must be working because you cannot search for latex mattresses without ending up on one of his sites.

Hightower claims that with his low overhead, the fact that all the sewing is done in house, and that he works very closely with his latex vendors to get the lowest possible prices on raw materials, all contribute to keeping the costs down and thus offering customers the best value on a latex mattress. He relates latex mattresses to being like a computer, once you take off the case, the insides all look the same. You have the same components from the same vendors but you have one company (Dell) who sells for less than the competition. It's all about overhead.
