WHO: Leslie Jordan WHAT: One-Night-Only Special Performance of "Leslie Jordan's Church Revival" WHEN: Thursday, December 30, 7:00 p.m. WHERE: Weisfeld Center, 1508 Cadiz St., Dallas, TX 75201 WHY: Benefit for Legacy Counseling Center TICKETS: $40.00 available for purchase at http://www.legacycounseling.org/ Raised a Southern Baptist in a highly conservative, deeply religious atmosphere, Jordan became famous for his diminutive yet boisterous characters in such television shows as "Sordid Lives," "Boston Legal," "Reba" and "Will & Grace," where he won an Emmy for his delicious portrayal of Beverley Leslie, the arch-nemesis of Megan Mullally's Karen Walker. Jordan recently completed filming "Mangus" starring John Waters, and Jordan also appears next year in the much anticipated movie "The Help" starring Emma Stone, Sissy Spacek and Bryce Dallas Howard. On stage Jordan won rave reviews and received an Ovation Reward for his role in "Southern Baptist Sissies," a play about the struggles of gay men coming out in the Bible Belt. "The problem with all us boys is that we equate God with religion," Jordan once said. "I still struggle. I do lash out at what I perceive as God, but it's really the bastardization of God by these people who hide behind their church, their book." Actor-comedian Paul J. Williams of Sister Helen Holy fame, along with a special 16-voice choir under the direction of Dallas composer/arranger Steven D. Couch, joins Jordan in the Sara Ellen & Samuel Weisfeld Center, the beautifully restored 600-seat hall of the historic, former home of First Church of Christ, Scientist. Tickets were previously sold for $100 each, but now the price has been reduced to $40 to insure a sellout performance. All proceeds benefit Legacy Counseling Center. # # # Legacy Counseling Center provides individual and group therapy to HIV-positive people and their families. Legacy also operates Founders Cottage, a seven-bedroom house that provides 24-hour care for critically ill AIDS patients in a home-like setting. End
