Dec. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Gary Adams started TaylorMade in 1978. The company manufactures golf equipment such as irons, drivers, woods, putters and wedges. TaylorMade makes these clubs for men, women and children. It also makes other types of equipment, such as balls, bags and accessories. The TaylorMade R7 Iron is a series of irons that TaylorMade produces.
About--The R7 Iron is manufactured by TaylorMade. The series is available for both women and men. Both graphite and steel shafts are available with different flex types. The irons are noted for large club heads and tungsten weights that can be added.
Loft--The loft angle is the angle of the club face in relation to a straight vertical line. Shorter hitting irons and wedges have higher loft angles than longer hitting clubs. Higher loft angles allow for the ball to be hit higher in the air and roll less when it lands. Lower loft angles are used for longer distance and more ball roll. The TaylorMade R7 3-iron has a loft angle of 19 degrees. The loft angle of the 9-iron is 39 degrees while the sand wedge is at 54 degrees.
Offset--The offset is the distance between the hosel and the edge of the club face. The hosel is where the shaft and the club head connect. Long irons tend to have larger offsets than wedges and short irons. A large offset is useful for cutting down on a golfer's slice and allowing the ball to be hit straighter. The offset of the R7 3-iron is 6 mm. The 9-iron's offset is 4 mm while the sand wedge and lob wedge both have an offset of 1 mm.
Length--Club length is simply the length of a club's shaft. Long irons typically have longer shafts than short irons and wedges. The R7 length is a feature that golfers generally get customized in relation to their height and arm length. The R7 3-iron comes with a club length of 38.75 inches. The 9-iron's length is 35.75 inches while the sand wedge is 35.25 inches long.
Lie Angle--The lie angle of a club is the angle between the shaft and the club head. Wedges and short irons will usually have a larger lie angle than long irons. The lie angle of the TaylorMade R7 3-iron is 61 degrees. In comparison, the 9-iron's lie angle is 64 degrees while the sand wedge is 64.5 degrees.
