Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Joseph Ramos, Cebu food dining and eating guide expert visited the Gorordo Avenue, Lahug dining establishment and sampled its ambience, food and other offerings of the Turtles Nest Cafe / Restaurant.

"These guys are getting a little bit of promotion and chatter on facebook etc" "as far as i know its open 24 hours and is frequented by Call centre staff from the nearby Call Centre agencies".  The place offers some dining and drinks.

Where: TURTLES NEST, 124 GORORDO AV. LAHUG CEBU CITY 6000
Telephone number: 2315180

"To be honest this place IS CRAP.  CRAP SERVICE, CRAP FOOD".  "I'm well travelled around the Philippines for food and dining and i should have picked it on our first arrival at the place.  We walked in and there were two groups of people, around 5 in number at 8pm on a Saturday night.  If thats not telling you something then i don't know what is".  "maybe the reason they open 24 hours is to grab the 1am to 5am clientele as they certainly werent grabbing any of the traditional dinner time clientele to the place.  Selling beers to a bunch of around 5 people wouldnt pay the staff bills let alone the overheads of the joint".

"we walked into the main dining area of Turtles nest and ... mmmmm well what can i say, a pile of old stale books that stunk (no wonder they had them for sale) and the couch smelt a bit off .. like it was well and truly sweated on and could tell the stories of many a drinker to the Turtles nest."

"First up were the drinks and ... wah?? our coke was flat. yep.  You know the flat fizzless coke which has no life as if you were drinking it out of the bottle in the fridge.  Perhaps better was to come.  We asked the staff about some of the dishes and noone seemed to know anything.  Obviously a sign the out of sight-out of mind management doesnt train its staff well to know WHAT THEY ARE SELLING.  Rule 1. guys.  Get your staff to be able to sell your product.  Your probably to greedy to give your staff samplings of the menu to best describe the dishes as to our horror we know you do the traditional filipino thing and deduct from staff wages any food that is returned... f*ck you!

The salad we ordered was disgusting.  Tasteless... droopy .. something out of the Gordon Ramsay nightmare kitchen show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsay's_Kitchen_Nightmares

But here at the Turtles Nest it appears the customer is LAST every step of the way.

1. Staff just serve.  They dont suggest.
2. Staff appear poorly trained.  Lack product knowledge.
3. When a customer complains staff dont know what to do.
4. Staff are penalised by the owner for customer complaints by having the cost of the dish deducted from wages.

Who loses - the customer loses! thats who - fu*k you!

Joseph Ramos went on to say "We were now angry when we recieved our salad and clearly displayed our disgust to the girl who then perhaps became worried about having an angry customer not paying for a dish and having the cost of this dish deducted from her meagre wages.".

"we took pity on her plight and paid for dishes we did not eat " "... these salads guys you should have seen .. droopy carrot, something else indescribable, bits of tuna.. its was first rate dog food that i wouldnt even give to my askal.  How do these clowns keep surviving dishing out dog turd food under a foul smelly ambiance called a library for a restaurant.  We had no where to go but pay at the time."

Joseph Ramos went onto say.. "I would suggest to anyone wanting to visit this place to clearly question your moral sense of self in this world.  Do you want to support this kind of establishment that dishes out poor food, poor service and then .. you have to pay for it?"
Where when asked who the owners were so i can complain .. I couldnt get that answer.

I really want to know what happened to the other half of the squid we ordered.  Was the sizzle set so high that it shrunk by half?  The main meal was more like an entree and it appeared we were suckered into paying for half a squid, a droopy salad that we returned (that seemed to have been sitting there for 12 hours + by the look, feel and taste of it ... perhaps the salad was crying "buy me .. buy me" and FLAT COKE.

RECOMMENDATION: 1 star out of 5 (with 5 being the best rating)
OVERALL RATING: VERY POOR
SUMMARY:

1. absent minded staff
2. staff lack product knowledge
3. smelly ambience
4. flat coke served
5. food missing, sizzling squid was small.
6. no complaints mechanism - we bought food we didnt want
7. staff could not give us owners name
8. staff are penalised for food returned ie. have the price of the dish out of wages taken.
