Dec. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- As gas prices go up, so, too, does your cost to commute. The good news is that the cost of safety and quality doesn’t have to break the bank when you consider the 2011 Toyota Yaris. Toyota made some of its most advanced safety technology standard for this year’s model.

A small car should have big numbers for fuel economy and the quantity of standard safety features, and it should have small numbers when it comes to price and cost of ownership. The 2011 Toyota Yaris meets those criteria while adding Toyota quality to the picture. Consider sporty, spunky spirit and the choice of three body styles two solid bonuses. The three-door liftback starts at an MSRP of $12,855; the five-door liftback starts at $13,155 and the four-door sedan has an MSRP of $13,615.

Yaris’ mileage numbers are plenty big: 29 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. For 2011, every Yaris comes standard with Toyota’s Star Safety System™, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control (TRAC). Both technologies add peace of mind, especially when driving in less-than-ideal conditions.

There’s more to Star Safety. Antilock brakes are a given these days – or are they? Other small cars still charge extra for this vital safety feature, which means a car you find in dealer inventory might not have it. It’s reassuring to know that every 2011 Yaris in a Toyota dealer’s inventory will have ABS.

The Yaris’ braking system also includes Brake Assist. Here’s how it works: If you get into an emergency situation and hit the brakes quickly, but don’t apply full pressure, Brake Assist can step in and maximize brake pressure to ensure the quickest stop possible. The ABS, meanwhile, keeps the brakes from locking up, and that preserves your ability to steer. Inside, Yaris protects with six standard airbags, including front seat-mounted side airbags and first- and second-row roll-sensing side-curtain airbags.

All Yaris models get the same peppy, fuel-sipping 106-hp four-cylinder engine. With its smooth operation and broad torque curve, the engine makes Yaris feel responsive in every day driving. The available four-speed automatic transmission even “thinks” when you’re driving on hilly roads, using uphill/downhill shift logic to reduce hunting between gears.

And talk about responsive, consider how easy it is to maneuver a Yaris in urban settings and tight places, like parking garages: The Yaris sedan has a small, 32.6-foot turning circle, and that of the liftback models is even smaller at 30.8 feet. A car so maneuverable can make the driver feel more confident. Toyota also did something special to give the Yaris driver maximum forward visibility by putting the instrument cluster high in the center of the dashboard.

The Yaris design makes it quite roomy inside. For example, the sedan offers a generous 35.6 inches of rear-seat legroom, which is close to what you get in a midsize sedan. Its 12.9-cubic-foot trunk is also large for the class, and the available space expands with the 60/40-split/folding rear seatback that’s included in the available Convenience Package. In the liftback models, the available folding seatbacks nearly triple available cargo space from 9.3 cubic feet to 25.7.

Glance back at the low MSRPs for the 2011 Yaris, and then consider that those prices include such standard comfort features as air conditioning, tilt steering wheel and intermittent windshield wipers with mist control. Toyota has, for decades, added the seemingly small details that make a big difference in every day driving. One such feature in the 2011 Yaris, dual sun visors with vanity mirrors, might seem small until you’re going for that job interview and need to look your best.

The 2011 Yaris offers the latest connected technologies including BLU Logic® Bluetooth® functionality and an iPod connection as accessories. Come in and see what a great value you get in a 2011 Toyota Yaris. It’s a Toyota, after all. http://www.toyotaofdeerfieldbeach.com/index.htm
