Dec. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Some call it the biggest village of Southeast Asia; others see it as place where one can go back into time. A country which had been closed for many years is now attracting tourists from all over the world, and one company which organizes tours in Laos is Exotissimo Travel. One of their many tours in Laos includes Unseen Vientiane which lets travelers explore what lies beyond the bustle of the Laotian capital.

The tour begins at the home and workplace of Sandra Yuck where she talks to visitors about the Lao products and shows them traditional methods used in producing them. The proceeds from this are used to rehabilitate and educated children who have become drug users.

The guide will then take travelers on a night tour of the capital where you will explore the city’s bustling market and eat at a local restaurant enjoying traditional Laotian cuisine. You will also enjoy a traditional song and dance performance while you eat. Even Laos has not caught its pace with time, Laotians have something to offer in terms of nightlife, such as enjoying chilled Beer Lao at a Laotian bar lounge or singing the night away at a local nightclub.

Travelers will start the next day with a late breakfast and then head to the temple which is known as a center for Buddhist education for 450 years. Here an English speaking guide will enlighten you about the Lao culture, its people and its traditions. On this day travelers will also visit one of the last remaining forest temples in the capital of Laos where they will take a yoga class under the shade of the trees of the temple and also learn about the temple’s herbal gardens, try the traditional sauna, practice meditation and finally enjoy traditional Lao massage. Travelers will also take part in one of the oldest traditions of Laos - Baci. Baci is a mix of Animist and Buddhist beliefs, is to call back escaped spirits to the body. A truly a unique experience.

On the last day of the tour travelers will visit another forest temple on the outskirts of Vientiane, known for engaged Buddhism or Buddhism for development. The temple’s abbot believes that the extreme weather events around the world create the need for people from all walks of life to protect and preserve their local environment. The temple has a beautiful herbal garden and maintains it by grassroots recycling techniques. Travelers will have a chance to take part in it by planting their own tree and contributing to the temple.

This trip to Vientiane will give you great insights of the Laotian culture and traditions and the influence of Buddhism on the people of this country.
