Incredible Friendships Begin at Naresh's on Main in Santa Monica

Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Less than six months since it’s opening, Naresh’s on Main Bar and Restaurant has quickly become a hotspot for Santa Monica locals and fellow Westsiders. Centrally located in Santa Monica, CA, on the vibrant and bustling Main Street, the eponomously titled Naresh's on Main is the latest venture from chef and owner, Naresh Mehra.

As one of the City's original restauranteurs, Naresh has a prolific background in the restaurant industry. He was at the forefront and helmed the success of the iconic Rose Café & Market and The Firehouse Restaurant in nearby Venice, CA. The legendary LA Times Food Critic, Lois Dawn, once stated that Naresh possessed "an understanding of Person, Place and Food."

Having resided in Santa Monica for over 40 years, Naresh’s cuisine is a true testament to the warm and vibrant nature of the beachside city. The menu is delightfully eclectic, with a novel complexity, inspired by Naresh's background as a professional chef. The tapas-style plates are designed for sharing. Favorites include the gourmet pizzas, which are fired-off in an authentic wood-burning pizza oven, as well as delicious Indian-inspired dishes. At Naresh's, you will also find the best of California cuisine combined with an exotic touch.

Naresh’s inspiration for the ambiance came from years of hosting dinner parties at his Santa Monica home. He wanted to create a metaphorical extension of his living room, a place with great food that was sincerely warm and inviting. Inspiration was also derived from English pubs, where the emphasis is placed on catering to locals.

In constructing the menu, Naresh echoed the same sentiments as when designing the space, stating, “If you were to ask me, my favorite dish is everything on the menu. There is nothing that I placed on the menu that I would not serve to my own family and my closest friends.”

The chic, elegant décor was also attributed to Naresh’s mantra for the restaurant, “A place for conversation, a place for friendships.” The philosophy behind Naresh's on Main is simply stated in a piece of art above the kitchen which says, "Incredible Friendships Begin at Naresh's."

Happy Hour is served everyday from 12pm to 7:30pm. Happy Hour specials are written daily on the blackboard, and offer many half-off specials on wine and food.  Beginning January 2011, Naresh will offer private invitation-only dinners where he will personally cook for 10-12 people, comprising of both customers and friends at his restaurant.
