Ghostwriting can promote organizations, establish credibility, says expert

Organizations can increase their public profile by using the services iof a ghostwriter, says an expert.

Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Plainfield, Indiana - Companies that want to establish or strengthen their credibility while promoting their products and services would be wise to investigate the value of  ghostwriting, notes veteran copywriter and marketing consultant Scott Flood of Scott Flood Writing.

"Ghostwriting involves working with a professional writer who develops articles that carry somebody else’s byline," Flood explains. "Many of the articles you'll see in magazines and newspapers that have been 'authored' by top corporate executives are actually written on their behalf by ghostwriters. Some people think that there’s something inherently unethical or dishonest about the process, but what a ghostwriter is doing is taking that executive's knowledge and presenting it more effectively." Typically, ghostwriters will interview the "author" to better understand the gist of the article, gather the facts, and listen for subtleties in the way he or she explains the points, Flood says.

He notes that there are several good reasons for working with ghostwriters. "Even if the executive writes well, writing probably isn’t the most effective use of his or her time," Flood explains. "In addition, many editors would rather work through a seasoned ghostwriter. Their goal is to publish content that will be interesting and useful to their readers, and a good ghostwriter will present the information in a more meaningful and engaging way. Plus, busy editors know that a ghostwritten story will require less polishing than one submitted by a non-writer."
