Chronic Pain And Its Diagnosis

Most people regardless of age suffer from various pains. It may be either back pain or knee pain or any other body pain. The gravity of pain may be slight or acute. A nagging pain which lasts for more than six months can be called chronic pain.

Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Most people regardless of age suffer from various pains. It may be either back pain or knee pain or any other body pain. The gravity of pain may be slight or acute. A nagging pain which lasts for more than six months can be called chronic pain. But many scientists are of opinion that any pain which last longer than the expected healing time can be also called chronic pain. The pain can arise from headaches, back-pain, arthritis and other neurological problems.
It may also arise from any previous mishaps, serious infections or sprained back and the patient is healed but the pain continues to days, months or years. People lose the ability to work, any physical activity can aggravate the pain to a large extend. Some types of chronic pains are as follows:

Nociceptive Pain: This pain is diagnosed in the muscles or skin. It can be of two types:

Somatic Pain: This type of pain is detected by sensory nerves in the muscles, skin and soft tissues. These nerves are wide spread in the muscles and skin. Pain from Arthritis is an example of somatic pain.

Visceral Pain: This kind of pain arises from the sensory nerves which lies in the internal organs and can be felt further away from the actual origin.
