When enrollees are compliant with the terms of their supervision, the device transmits monitoring data at least once every 10 minutes. If the enrollee commits a violation, such as a tamper, entering prohibited zones or not recharging the battery in a timely manner, the device immediately generates an event notification and transmits it to the VeriTracks system using nationwide digital cellular service.

Once the VeriTracks system receives the near real-time data, it immediately forwards it to the assigned supervising agent/officer using his or her preferred method of receipt – email, fax, page or text message. Supervising agents/officers can also learn the immediate location of any given enrollee when logged into VeriTracks. Once the device receives the instruction from VeriTracks, it transmits the most recent set of GPS latitude and longitude points regardless of the last data transmission. For example, if the enrollee is compliant with the terms of his or her supervision the device transmits all stored monitoring data at 10:14 a.m. The next scheduled data transmission time would be ten minutes later at 10:24 a.m. as long as the enrollee is compliant. At 10:17 a.m., the supervising agent/officer initiates an Immediate Location Request, which causes the device to immediately transmit the set of GPS points it received at 10:17 a.m., as well as those received at 10:15 and 10:16.

EPIC Monitoring also offers StalkerAlert. Victims of domestic violence use Stalker Alert to receive information about the proximity of their abuser to themselves. Victims carry a small, lightweight device with them at all times to help keep themselves safe. Stalker Alerts uses GPS technology, mobile proximity zones and digital cellular phone networks to warn victims when their abuser is nearby. A mobile proximity zone moves with the victim and its size is based on the protection order issued by the court. If an abuser violates the victim’s mobile proximity zone, Stalker Alert performs three actions simultaneously: it begins emitting an audible tone to alert the victim, it sends a text message to the victim’s cell phone warning of the zone violation. It then sends an enrollee violation notification to the supervising agents/officers assigned to that case.
