Dec. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- NJ day spa owners are optimistic about a successful year in 2011.  The economic down turn had been difficult for many NJ spas, but after a few years of operating in the red, many NJ spa owners are optimistic for 2011.

Valentina Chistova owns and operates two successful Monmouth County day spas, Aquamedica Spa in Long Branch and ABC Day Spa in Freehold.  While many spas in NJ were downsizing or closing their doors entirely, Chistova managed to push through the difficult years and even open a second spa in 2010.   According to Chistova, today’s most successful spa owners will have to be smart about how they position their spas in 2011.
Chistova says, “Consumers still want to go to the spa, but they aren’t going as frequently.  The biggest reason is price.”  When times were good and spas were booming, some NJ day spas were raising their prices year after year and consumers were paying the increases.  When times got tough, consumers had to re-evaluate how they spent $100 dollars.  Chistova says today’s consumer is looking for ways to get the most out of every dollar.

Chistova’s two spas operate under a philosophy she likes to describe as ‘Luxury for Less’.  Consumers can get the same luxurious day spa treatments at either spa, for less money than most area spas are charging.  “Less money doesn’t mean less service,” explains Chistova.  “We offer 2 full day spa settings, locker rooms, amenities, showers and more.  The only things we have less of are high prices.”  The concept dates back hundreds if not thousands of years ago to Russia where Chistova is from.  “In Russia, spa is considered a way of life, a necessity for health and well being.  Spa prices in Russia reflect this sentiment.”  Chistova explains that the concept of the day spa in the US is almost entirely luxury-based. “It is luxurious to have a nice massage, but lets not forget all of the important health benefits,” says Chistova.  “If we want consumers to be able to take advantage of such healthy resources, we have to make it affordable.”  And that is just what she has done at both spas.

In addition to daily and weekly specials that offer up to 40% off already lower menu prices, Chistova offers spa memberships and pre-paid spa cards that make going to the spa on a regular basis much more affordable. For this holiday, Chistova encourages consumers to buy spa gift cards as gifts for anyone on their list.  Spa gift cards to both spas, Aquamedica and ABC Day Spa never expire.  Plus, for the past few weeks she has been offering steep discounts on gift certificate purchases.

Chistova’s advice to spa owners in 2011 is to make their business more accessible by more people more often.   “The way to do this is by offering prices that are more realistic for consumers,” she adds.

Aquamedica Day Spa is located on the beaches of Long Branch, NJ at the Pier Village lifestyle center.  ABC Day Spa is within the renowned CentraState Wellness Center in Freehold and is open to the public.  Both spas are under the directorship of Valentina Chistova, an internationally trained skin and beauty expert.  For a complete list of services and offerings, visit http://www.aquamedicaspa.com or http://abcdayspa.com .
