Dec. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Previous training had been carried out in-house but a decision was made last year to make sure all field staff achieve an industry approved qualification.

Eleven members of the Cleankill Pest Control team now have a nationally recognised qualification which demonstrates they have in-depth knowledge of insect and mammal pests, pest proofing, health and safety and safe use and storage of pesticides.

The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health Course, which is accredited by the British Pest Control Association, was taken over a four-week period. The exam is divided into three sections: vertebrate pest control; invertebrate pest control, health and safety and legal.  All three sections have to be passed.

Cleankill’s Service and Technical Manager Chris Davis, who has been a pest control trainer for 10 years, said: “We regard on-going training and qualifications as extremely important. Pest control techniques and the types of pests we have to deal with are constantly changing and we want to make sure every member of staff is at the top of their game.

“We are also keen to maintain our ISO accreditation and, most importantly, we want customers and potential customers to know that we are highly skilled and have the technical expertise to work with customers to make sure their pest problems are controlled.”

One Cleankill director and two managers were among the group who took the qualification and two of the pest controllers passed their exam with distinction.

The staff included: Company Director Clive Bury; Sales Manager Mike Williamson; Service and Technical Manager Chris Davis (Distinction); Area Surveyor Lynn Turner; Area Technician Phil Nye (Distinction); Area Technician Bob Gooden; Area Technician Richard Morgan; Area Technician Ben Osborne and Area Technician Freddie Beasley. They joined colleagues Area Technician Ben Randall and Area Technician Richard Stevens who already have the qualification.

Cleankill Managing Director Paul Bates added: “We are very proud of everyone who took the exam. It is a tough qualification and every person had to spend many hours of their personal time studying. Making sure every member of staff has the latest qualification shows we are a first-class team and should help Cleankill become even more successful.”

Cleankill started in 1995 and is a specialist provider of pest control services to retail, commercial and industrial properties throughout the UK.  The company deals with ‘distress’ pests such as wasps and fleas, as well as preventative maintenance against public health pests such as mice and rats. Cleankill can also clear and proof buildings against pest birds. The company prides itself on fast and efficient service delivery and aims to be recognised as a market leader for innovation and new pest control techniques.
