A New Study Released by Woya.com Busts the Myth of After Christmas Sale

It is a common belief that holiday sales have the steepest discounts after Christmas. A new study released by Woya.com suggests that, at least for consumer electronics, it may not be the case.

Dec. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- It is a common belief that After Christmas Sale offers extra savings and it is worth the wait despite the fact that some product may run out of stock. While this strategy may work for certain product verticals such as apparels, a new study released today suggests that at least for consumer electronics, it may not pay off.

Woya.com, a consumer product research site, analyzed the price fluctuation of over 3,400 consumer electronics from 11 popular categories in the 2009 holiday season, using data gathered from major online stores and price comparison sites including Amazon, Ebay, Cnet, Shopzilla, and Yahoo Shopping.  The study finds that:
•Price went up for 32.6% of the products during After Christmas Sale by an average of 12.1%;
•Price went down for 33.6% of the products during After Christmas Sale by an average of 9.3%;

If the data from 2009 holiday season is a fair representation of the general trend, consumers should jump on the best deals now instead of waiting till after Christmas.
