New Exhibits Installed at Turkey Run State Park Nature Center

Dec. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Exhibits in the nature center include a large sandstone rock form that mimics those in the park and feature a sculpted hemlock tree. A copper fountain with dimensional letters introduces the visitor to the Nature Center, and emits the soothing sounds of running water.

One challenge faced in this project was accurately recreating the carved sandstone rock features and unique hemlock trees that are native to the park.  In order to achieve the highest level of detail, Taylor Studios arranged with the park to visit the site to take molds and casts of specific rock walls and a hemlock tree.  By making this extra effort, Taylor Studios was able to create an end product that gave the client the most accurate representations possible.

When asked about the project, John Martinie, Taylor Studios’ project manager, stated, “Working with the Indiana DNR and the Turkey Run site staff was a real pleasure.  They were always prepared and always gave us great feedback when prompted.  One of the most unique aspects of this project was that on day one, we set the design-build schedule and final install date.  A little over 15 months later, we were there unloading our completed exhibits on the exact day we had discussed the year before.  We never once had to change the project schedule.”

The Nature Center located at is 8121 East Park Road, Marshall, IN 47859 and, during the Fall and Winter months, is open to the public Thursday - Monday: 10 am - 4 pm, Tuesday - Wednesday: Closed.
