Dec. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- In its ninth year, the KIDS Inlet Challenge Bicycle Ride raised more than $125,000 for Fort Lauderdale-based Kids in Distress (KID) exceeding last year’s fundraising efforts.

For the second year in a row, the event was led by pro cyclist Tom Danielson and presented by Zimmerman Advertising’s zMotion cycling group. Also riding this year was local cycling hero turned pro, Andrew Talansky, who signed with Garmin-Cervelo this summer.

“It was an honor to join Tom Danielson and the rest of the zMotion cycling group to help raise money for this important local cause,” stated Talansky. “This was an incredible ride and a fantastic opportunity to lend my support to an event that truly helps improve the lives of so many in our community.”

More than 1,000 cyclists from all across South Florida pedaled their way along A1A on Sunday, December 5 in Fort Lauderdale to participate in the Inlet Challenge to help improve the lives of local area under privileged children and their families.

All proceeds from the ride benefit KID, a nationally accredited non-profit organization that has provided assistance to abused children and their families for more than 30 years. KID focuses on preventative programs aimed toward keeping families together and has opened its doors to many families in need of guidance. KID has served more than 6,200 children and families in Broward and Palm Beach County.

zMotion participates in numerous charitable rides throughout the year and is involved with various philanthropic organizations throughout South Florida. The cycling group has raised more than $2 million for a variety of worthwhile causes since its inception only five years ago.

“Along with our sponsorship, Team zMotion had 250 riders participate in this year’s KIDS Inlet Challenge,” explains Pat Patregnani, agency President and founder of the zMotion team. “Our team enjoyed a fabulous ride and we look forward to continuing to raise awareness and fundraising support for KID.”
