Dec. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Winnersh Charity Fit Camp raising funds for Robbie the Robot at Royal Berks

A popular local fitness bootcamp is opening its doors over the New Year to raise funds for the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust's Robbie the Robot appeal. FastTrack Fit Camp, run by friends and business partners Heidi Strickland-Clark and Vida Bennett, has helped 275 Berkshire residents get in shape since December 2009. The Charity Fit Camp on Monday 3rd January 2011 will be held at Bearwood Rec in Winnersh between 10:30-11:30am. All are welcome. The cost is £5 per person or £15 per family with all proceeds going to the Robbie the Robot appeal.

FastTrack Fit Camp has seen many successes in its first year. Claire Iles from Crowthorne joined the group to get in good physical and mental shape in order to conceive again.  "It took 28 cycles to conceive my daughter Emily," she said. "With FastTrack Fit Camp's help, I lost 10lbs (and am lighter than when I conceived before) and conceived within one month! I intend to get back to FastTrack Fit Camp in July to regain the fitness and strength I have enjoyed so far."

Harald Hofer from Twyford has lost over 3 stone since starting FastTrack Fit Camp in May 2010. "When I started, I found some of the exercises hard to complete" he said. "I work really hard in each session and have improved my strength as well as losing 3 stone in weight. The sessions are still tough but completing the exercises is easier now!" Harald and his partner Valesca Vos have both committed to the sessions since May and their results are testament to what campers can achieve when they take the responsibility to stay healthy.

Tony Larks from Warfield has lost 17lbs over a 4-week period at FastTrack Fit Camp. "Weight loss aside," he said, "my fitness and energy levels have increased massively!"

FastTrack Fit Camp runs a series of indoor and outdoor bootcamp-style fitness sessions at various locations in Wokingham, Winnersh, Swallowfield, Bracknell and Twyford, at various times of day six days a week.

The fun and motivating fitness sessions are led by Vida Bennett from Wokingham, a Fitness Instructor, Massage Therapist, NLP and Hypnotherapy Practitioner and Heidi Strickland-Clark, also from Wokingham, a Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist. Between them, they have over 18 years experience in the fitness industry, many of those teaching at local gyms.

"We set up FastTrack Fit Camp up as we wanted to help people lose fat and get in shape healthily," explained Heidi, "We educate our campers on living a healthy lifestyle which they can continue with once they leave us. Some people stay with us for a month: camp kick starts their fitness regime and then they manage on their own. Others stay with us for a longer time as they like the outdoors nature of our camps, the responsibility they have for their own success and, of course, the results they get!"

"The charity day has been set up to coincide with the last Bank Holiday of Christmas," said Vida. "People will have been sitting around for almost 10 days and may want to get out and do something other than a traditional family walk! The 45 minute session will kick start the metabolism and will be a great way to work out as a family. Importantly, it will also raise money for a great local charity."

Robbie the Robot is a state-of-the-art surgical robot which has transformed prostate cancer operations at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. It allows surgeons to perform radical prostate operations through keyhole surgery. The Royal Berkshire NHS Trust needs to raise £1 million over the next three years in order to keep Robbie the Robot operating in Reading.
