Dec. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Plano’s Domestic Violence Shelter, Hope’s Door, sent out a cry for help and Nissan of McKinney & McKinney Buick GMC answered. Hope’s Door was desperately in need of gifts and toys for nearly one hundred kids and their mothers, due to the designated charity backing out. They had requested the names of those in need, and because of the seriousness of the situation, Hope’s Door could not compromise the safety and anonymity of the women and children they provide shelter to. In less than a day’s time, over seventy people, including local Collin County businesses came forward to provide a happier holiday for those less fortunate. Participant Nissan of McKinney & McKinney Buick GMC brought by big bags loaded with toys. http://www.nissanofmckinney.com/index.htm

"I'm taking my family to New York for Christmas, and I heard it on TV," Godwin stated. "Here I am about to embark on a vacation, and I can't leave my community behind, so I wanted to do something for them, too. We decided to step in and buy gifts for all one hundred children so they can have the Christmas that was promised to them by Hope's Door.”

Pat Tosi of Hope’s Door is especially grateful for the support of the community. "We are overwhelmed," she said. "We are so delighted. I did not expect this type of response. It's really wonderful."

Nissan of McKinney & McKinney Buick GMC's Owner, Chris Godwin, felt that it was their duty to help out. He has worked diligently to develop a culture at his dealership where the employees can feel good about their place of business, because they are also in the business of giving back to those in need. Chris Godwin says, “We're proud to have given over $600,000 back to our communities, including helping feed families in need, especially during the holidays.”
