Follow on Google News | Fort Myers Floral Designs and Liberty Aluminum capture Peoples’ Choice Awards at Festival of TreesMore than 4,500 people visited the 2010 Festival of Trees, and many cast their votes for the event's annual People's Choice awards. This year's top awards were given to Fort Myers Floral Design and Liberty Aluminum Co.
By: Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation Fort Myers Floral Design and Candy Bouquet was a clear crowd favorite at the 2010 festival. Their tree, titled “…And Makes the World Taste Good,” earned the Mayor’s Choice Award from Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson during the annual River District Holiday Stroll. The tree, inspired by the game “Candyland,” Fort Myers Floral Designs also earned ribbons for the Most Creative Tree and Best All-Around. The Festival’s 25 trees were auctioned off at the Tux & Trees Gala (http://www.tuxandtrees.com) The honor of Most Traditional tree was awarded to Liberty Aluminum Company’s “Christmas in the Park.” The display, which included a lighted horse-drawn carriage and sleigh, auctioned for $1,600 at the Gala. The Festival of Trees and the Tux & Trees Gala are the signature fundraising events of the Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation. In the events’ first three years, they have raised more than $150,000. Proceeds from the 2010 Festival and Gala are still being tabulated.
