Dec. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- While conducting the survey on current prevailed conditions, I acknowledged that Karachi is progressive in terms of building its criminal justice system, but only a few privileged people have access to justice.  There are also many communities where people are suffering because community leaders lack awareness. I have identified three central problems with legal rights implementation in Pakistan:

1.   Inadequate awareness of legal rights among community leaders, and thus the community
2.   a shortage of legal practitioners,
3.   a lack of good governance and community-level organization.

So to this end I had come up with a project which will curb this issue. The project offers several solutions to these problems. First, i made set up of multi-purpose camps in underprivileged communities with teams of lawyers, human rights officers, local government personnel, doctors and social workers from my NGO. The teams delivered lectures to community leaders on good governance and carried out rights awareness campaigns. They screened cases and focused on the most critical; I then had asked the community to contribute legal fees to these cases. The team will now work on developing a website to provide online legal assistance to Pakistani citizens, to be monitored by lawyers from his NGO.

But this is not just it, the press and media needs to be aware about the current progress and kind of work that I am doing. In order to achieve this target I had managed to do a couple of radio programs where I took live calls of the listeners and answered their queries. To me this is a wonderful tool to spread your word, and the turnout ratio was immense many people from the youth have stood in front and joined my NGO and gave their word to help me out in the ongoing activities.

But a bang was still needed and to do this, on 3rd of December 2010 at Karachi Press Club [An area where the entire journalism community gathers and interact] we have arranged a Press Conference, and shared the entire activity with media journalists. The response was extremely good. The Press community was enlightened to know the work of IBJ and mine. The Idea of community activation and focus on legal aid was a striking idea to share. Major results of the press conference were:

1.   Good Penetration within the Media Community.
2.   Word got spread rapidly.
3.   Many organizations who want to contribute in this cause contacted us and showed their interest.

In conclusion I believe performing a good deed is important but to go up to the next level press conferences like these are a major tool to strike with. In order to give your project the mileage you need or you expect a solid marketing strategy comprises of various activities in which you perform advertising through non-online means are extremely important. Since if you want the government to know what you doing and wants them to help you out the offline publicity of your work is very much needed.
