New features:

Multitasking:
Enables users with the ability to switch between tasks by double clicking the home page where you will get a list of running apps to then select and switch between. Multitasking is limited to audio, footage, GPS and VoIP apps and a few other allowances, with fast app switching the iPhone 4 apps mostly aren't running in the background, just smaller functions of the apps, such as an audio stream of GPS but all apps can be frozen in a state so that they can be opened in the state they were closed.

Local notifications:
Notifications can now be sent between apps on the iPhone 4G, not just from remote servers, this means if you have an open app that you move away from to another app a notification can be displayed to make the use aware if something has taken place, effectively advising you to switch back to see the response, a clever method to enable apps to communicate and stay on top of running multiple apps at once.

FaceTime:
Is the new Video Calling feature, only available on the iPhone 4G, enabling you with tap of a button to wave hello to your friends and family and share a smile from across the globe, this is described as an easy feature and works straight out of the box, no registration or instillation needed. This feature works via two cameras, one to the front and one on the back of the iPhone enabling you to switch between yourself and others in front of you on fly.

HD video recording:
With an advanced back illumination sensor the iPhone delivers stunning High Definition quality video in both light and dark environments along with the ability to perform basic editing right in the camera app further more with the addition of the iMovie app costing approx £3.50 from the app store you can further edit by combining your video clips with dynamic themes, music and photos then send via MMS or email and upload straight to YouTube in HD quality.
