Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Following the popularity of her first series of classes, acclaimed interior designer Yasmin Chopin is launching another series of design lessons, giving aspiring stylists in St Ives an insight into the industry.

Running for 12 weeks, the course will teach attendees some useful tricks of the trade, and give them the inspiration and skills to transform their own living environments.

The course is coming to St Ives as a result of the success the current classes have experienced at Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire.

Starting on January 11, the new series of lessons will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm until 9pm at the St Ives Corn Exchange.  The classes at Kimbolton will be continuing for a second term at the Mandeville Hall starting on January 10.  (The St Ives course costs £97.20 for 12 lessons and is payable in advance.)

The course starts with a look at how design affects day-to-day lives. It discusses different aspects of design, before students move on to learn how to create a specific atmosphere, as well as practising drawing to scale and creating concept boards.  The course content will also enable new learners to develop the skills to draw up simple floor plans and - when working with different samples – ideas to create a sample board.

People who attended the first series of classes in Kimbolton are coming to the end of the 10 week course and will be holding an end of term exhibition on December 6 where a guest speaker will come along and hand out a prize to the best work displayed.

Yasmin said: “No experience is needed to attend the classes and people are encouraged to come along and enjoy themselves.  The feedback from the first series of classes has been very good and I received comments such as, ‘I have actually learned more than I was expecting to’ and ‘I didn’t realise it was so easy to do scale drawing’.  I think the new course at St Ives will attract a good amount of people and enjoy the same success as Kimbolton.  It is a great chance to get out and try something new and creative.”

Yasmin Chopin works across London and the South and East of England. She trained at the highly respected Inchbald School of Design in London, and was awarded a prize for excellence and graduated with a Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration.  This qualification complements her BA (Hons) in the History of Art and Architecture.
