CM Awards Show Lands Legendary Roberta Flack as R&B Co-Founder

The Carolina Music Awards has just landed another big fish in the music industry! With Country music star Randy Travis already under their belt, they can now tell a new fish tale about their newest hook. “We just got word, legendary Roberta Flack is now onboard as the show’s official R&B Co-Founder. We’re very excited to have such a class-act and superstar supporting the show. In 2011, we’ll be naming the CM Award for R&B Female of the Year the ‘Roberta Flack Award’ in her honor.” said Christi Chambers – CM Awards Artist Relations.

Born in Black Mountain, NC, Ms. Flack has long standing ties to our wonderful state. Ms. Flack attended Howard University on a full scholarship due to her extremely profound classical piano talent. At the early age of 15, she was one of the youngest students ever enrolled at Howard University. Roberta graduated from the university by age 19. As she began her graduate studies in music, the sudden death of her father took her back to Farmville, North Carolina. There she worked as an English and music teacher.
