Chair and the Maiden's last exhibition....on Christopher Street.

Dec. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Please join us for Chair and the Maiden's year ending exhibition, And then there was Revolution, by Bridget Parris, opening on December 16th,2010 at 6-8pm.
Fairy tales imply a lesson to be learned. They present themselves in a sweet maligning yet innocuous way so that they can subvert an underlying agenda of morality through the lessons of unsavory character. It is here where Parris is a master storyteller with the inevitability of having history repeat itself.  She warns us of the pitfalls of greed and avarice where once they were catalysts of things great and now are no more than cause to reaction, senselessly taking back what was once given so freely.

An odd anachronism, Parris bereaves a time of indulgence and excess, of incredible economic disparage during our own similar times. She longs for the greatness that once was that came with such a heavy price, that of revolution; a cost so high that it brought the world to a brink. She parallels those times of grandeur to our own only to lament the present of excess with the absence of great achievement for future scholars to take note.
As the remnants of what is left of the 18th Century gradually fade and lay to waste Parris asks us of only one thing, when pride of the human spirit and creativity are replaced by quick paced self gratification, what kind of future lies ahead? If human purpose does not lie within self expression and creativity, but within selfishness and idolatry of currency, is not the future dim indeed?
