By: Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp Thanks to all that we demand of our bodies, both physically and mentally, this “machine” can occasionally lose its timing, misfire and even break down. We might call it fatigue, stress or illness, but it’s still the body’s reaction to the demands of life. But Restorative Yoga may be the solution. The Monday Morning Kamloops Restorative Yoga sessions, held at 9 a.m. beginning September 6, relies on a specific set of controlled motions to allow the body to restore its natural pulsations and defeat the problems caused by anxiety, stress or chronic illnesses. The Restorative Yoga class, conducted by longtime yoga teacher Katrina Ariel, leads students through a series of postures that last for a few minutes and is then followed by periods of deep relaxation. These movements train the cardiovascular system to quickly return to the normal highs and lows of the system, which also results in a reduced resting heart rate. By returning to a natural level, the student's blood circulation also increased and this assists in creating a state of peace throughout the body. Restorative Yoga creates the perfect environment for healing the mind and body. As Ariel explained, "The most profound healing occurs when you re-connect with your own natural pulsation. “This is why yoga and meditation work so well. The key to the Restorative Yoga process is breathing, Ariel said. When the student focuses on their breathing, she said, the mind and body re-establish a connection with their natural pulsations. “When you turn your awareness to your breath,” she said, “you honor and connect with the natural pulsations of your body. Again and again, you discover your true state of peace and joy." The Kamloops instructor has aided a number of students in regaining their natural pulsation with the Restorative Yoga method, showing them how to harmonize the mind and body and retake control of their breathing and blood circulation. Whether you're suffering from ordinary fatigue or more pronounced conditions like Fibromyalgia, a Restorative Yoga class can provide the techniques and results you seek.
